CORE THEMES: Placemaking

Placemaking refers to publicly accessible streets and open spaces between buildings, which are currently dominated by traffic and vehicle congestion. We implement our own innovative public realm projects to enhance the area, with projects undertaken throughout the BID term.

Villiers Street

Villiers Street, bounded to the east by the River Thames, is home to a concentration of prevalent visitor attractions and historic landmarks.

The Arc

The Arc project seeks to create a people first route for all ages and abilities between Storey’s Gate and Cardinal Place – an arc that gives the project its name.

Strand Aldwych

A new space was unveiled at Strand Aldwych, transforming one of London’s busiest and most polluted streets into a vibrant destination.

Project SWAN

London Heritage Quarter supports Project SWAN, a low-carbon heat network in central London.

People Wanted Whitehall

We are delighted to be publishing ‘People Wanted: Whitehall’ and to be sharing this vision for the Whitehall area.

King’s Scholars’ Passage

King’s Scholars’ Passage was identified as a project site within the Victoria BID Public Realm strategy, People Wanted, as one of a suite of spaces that could “transform Victoria into a place for people, create a destination and a successful location for all to work, live, shop and move in.”

Future Victoria

‘Future Victoria’ is a collaborative project aiming to develop a new place plan and 20-year vision for the Victoria Station area.

Freight, Servicing and Deliveries

Like most parts of central London, the London Heritage Quarter suffers from vehicle congestion and its associated effects – poor air quality, noise, and visual and road safety impacts.
