Festive Activities

Christmas Lights Switch On in Christchurch Gardens – Join us and the Cllrs of St James’s Ward on 14 November from 3:45pm to 5pm for mince pies, hot chocolates, and mulled wine, and carols from the children of St Matthew’s Primary School.

Festive Storytelling Sessions – Join us at St-Martin-in-the-Fields on 7 or 14 December, where storytelling duo, Cat & Hutch, will bring the magic of Christmas to life.

Festive Fairy Workshops – In celebration of our new fairy Christmas lights on Strand, we’re hosting a series of children’s themed workshops at Trafalgar St James’, The Clermont Charing Cross and Strand Palace Hotel on 8, 14, and 15 December, respectively.

Christmas Cookie Icing Workshop with Biscuiteers – Get in the festive spirit with this activity.

Skate at Somerset House – Opens on 13 November and there’s something for everyone, even if you choose to spectate rather than taking to the rink, with Skate Lates DJ Takeovers, food and drink pop-ups, an alpine restaurant, Skate School, Kids’ Club, and it’s worth noting that wheelchair users are welcome on all sessions.

Victoria’s Elf Adventure – This Christmas At Victoria London there’s an adventurous elf popping up around Cardinal Place, Nova and Victoria Street and he’s brought some gifts with him. Christmas Lights Switch On with The Snowman – Join At Victoria London in Cardinal Place on 3 December from 4:30pm to 6:30pm for a special light switch on with The Snowman from The Peacock Theatre.

Big Bus Christmas Lights Tour – Explore sparkling Christmas lights, the towering Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square, and the sights of Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, along with festive facts and stories.

The World’s First Fairy Lights on Strand and Villiers Street – On display from 12 November, they pay homage to the first ever fairy lights, which performers wore as they danced on the opening night of Iolanthe, the first show to premiere at the Savoy Theatre in 1882.
