London Heritage Quarter have worked alongside wayfinding specialists, City ID, to develop a wayfinding strategy that will help visitors navigate the area with greater confidence.
The strategy aims to improve perceptions of the area, boost vibrancy, and support economic prosperity. Through workshops, street audits, and surveys, 17 priority actions have been identified to encourage walking and ensure visitors feel oriented and confident about their location in the London Heritage Quarter and when making decisions to move around.
The full report and an executive summary of the Wayfinding Strategy can be found here. These outline those priority actions including working with TfL and Westminster City Council to develop an enhanced directional wayfinding in key areas with distance fingerposts.
To celebrate the launch of the strategy in September and the start of the delivery phase, project partners were welcomed to a walk. We were delighted to see representatives from TfL, Westminster City Council, The Bulldog Trust, Thames Clippers, The CoLab, and Tate Galleries.
Further to the Wayfinding Strategy, a Hidden Gems of Whitehall walking trail has launched on the LHQ Hub App, spotlighting 9 historical locations such as Winston Churchill’s Balcony and St Mary’s Steps to Whitehall Palace.
