A Moment of Hush, Coco Hewitt

Pride in the Quarter, June to August

A Moment of Hush

Christchurch Gardens

Sponsored by London Heritage Quarter

Drawing inspiration from Christchurch Gardens, this lioness reflects the space as a sanctuary within the city. From burial ground to church, through wartime destruction and its transformation into a public garden in 1951, the space reflects London’s resilience, continual change and enduring pride of place. Layers of gestural paint create texture and movement, capturing a sense of calm and reflection amidst the energy of the surrounding city.
