Playhouse Theatre

In 1905, a roof collapse at Charing Cross Station causing extensive damage to the adjacent Royal Avenue Theatre which necessitated a rebuild and reopening of the theatre as the Playhouse in 1907.  It went on to be home to numerous plays and musicals and, in 1951, became a BBC recording studio for live performances such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Now an acting theatre again, the Playhouse welcomes a multitude of events; it is especially popular for filming and photo shoots.
